All arrangements put in place to celebrate Independence Day across Kashmir: IGP VK Birdi

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 13 (STC): Full dress rehearsals for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations were successfully conducted today across all districts of the Kashmir Valley. Besides, security drills were also conducted to ensure readiness for the main event to be held on August 15 – Independence Day.
Giving details of the events, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi said, “Today in Kashmir Valley, in different districts, there was a parade on 15th August, which was a full dress rehearsal of the function. This rehearsal was successfully completed, and all the contingents took part.”
Sharing details of the security arrangements put in place, the IGP said, “Apart from this, today security arrangements were also done in all the districts of the valley. There was a security rehearsal, which was also successfully completed.”
Regarding the main event in Srinagar, Birdi said, “Here in the city of Srinagar, which is the main program where VVIP salutes take place, Srinagar Police has made multi-tier arrangements.” He added that “contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces will be part of this deployment.”
On public participation in the celebrations, Birdi said that the arrangements are in place to ensure smooth entry for the public and that citizens are encouraged to attend. “Most of the people who are our residents here should participate in this program and make it successful,” he said.
