Amid mess in flight operations, Railways to operate Delhi–Udhampur Vande Bharat from Dec 12

JAMMU, DECEMBER 09 (STC): In view of heavy passenger rush triggered by frequent flight cancellations, the Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has decided to operate a special Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) from Dec 12 to 14.
According to officials, the special train — numbered 02439/02440 — is being introduced as an emergency measure to ensure stranded passengers have a safe and affordable travel option.
Train No. 02439 will depart from New Delhi at 6:00 AM and reach Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) Railway Station at 2:00 PM, with scheduled halts at Ambala Cantt, Ludhiana, Pathankot Cantt, Jammu Tawi and other stations.
The return service, Train No. 02440, will leave Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) at 3:00 PM and arrive in New Delhi at 11:00 PM, stopping at the same stations en route.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said “This special Vande Bharat train will be operated due to frequent flight cancellations. It will ensure that passengers reach their destinations on time and their travel plans are not disrupted.”
He further stated that the special service will comprise 20 coaches, and passengers have been advised to verify train schedules through the Indian Railways website or NTES before commencing their journey.
