Amid rising tensions, Pakistan continues ceasefire violations along LoC

SRINAGAR, MAY 02 (STC): Unprovoked small arms firing on the night of May 1-2, took place from Pakistani posts opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor, says a report quoting Indian Army. The report adds that this way Pakistani troops continued to violate the ceasefire agreement along the Line of Control (LoC).
The report states that the Indian Army responded in a calm and measured way. Earlier, the firing was limited to Kupwara, Poonch, and Rajouri, but it has now spread to the Baramulla district, showing signs of increasing tension.
This is the eighth straight night of firing across the LoC. As a result, people living in border villages are preparing underground bunkers, fearing the situation may get worse.
It’s pertinent to mention that tensions between India and Pakistan have been rising since the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Even as top military officers from both sides spoke over a hotline to ease the tension, the firing has continued. The ceasefire agreement signed in 2021 is now under serious strain. (STC)
