Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari hits at PDP for “working in sync with BJP”

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 04 (STC): Apni Party president and former minister Altaf Bukhari has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is working in sync with the BJP. He accused both parties of playing a coordinated political game in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, Bukhari said the PDP’s alliance with the BJP in 2015 betrayed the public mandate given to it in 2014. “They took votes promising to keep BJP away, and later joined them. Everyone has seen the result,” he said.
Referring to Mehbooba Mufti, Bukhari claimed her political actions reflect BJP influence. “Whatever she is doing now appears to be directed by the BJP. It looks like a fixed match,” he said. “Some leaders show their connections openly, some don’t. But the reality doesn’t change.”
Bukhari noted that National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah has now ruled out any future tie-up with the BJP. “If Omar says he won’t go with the BJP because people voted for him on that basis, then that’s the right thing. Political honesty should matter,” he said, adding that Abdullah’s current stand may stem from watching what happened to the PDP.
Commenting on governance, Bukhari said work is not being done evenly across regions. He alleged that areas supporting opposition parties are being left out in basic development work like road repairs, drains, and streetlights. “This pattern has existed in the National Conference’s style of functioning,” he said.
