Army foils infiltration bid in Uri, soldier martyred

BARAMULLA, AUGUST 13 (STC)
: Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of north Kashmir today. However, a soldier, Havildar Ankit Kumar, got martyred in the fierce gunfight with terrorists.
According to news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the troops engaged infiltrating terrorists in a brief but intense exchange of fire.
“During the operation, one of our soldiers made the supreme sacrifice while valiantly defending the nation,” the sources said.
Quoting sources, the report said that the Army has launched a counter-infiltration and BAT (Border Action Team) operation in the area to track down the attackers.
Search operations were underway in the sector when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, Army on paid tribute to the soldier who achieved martyrdom in the encounter.
Taking on micro-blogging platform X, the army’s Chinar Corps wrote, “Chinar Corps honours the supreme sacrifice of Braveheart Havildar Ankit Kumar, who laid down his life while undertaking operational duty along the Line of Control in Uri, Baramulla.
