Authorities issue cyber alert over fake LPG payment links

: Authorities have issued a cyber alert warning mobile users against fake messages related to LPG payment and KYC updates that are, as per officials, being used to steal banking details.
According to the alert, the fraudulent messages, often carrying malicious links, appear legitimate and push users to act immediately. Clicking on such links can redirect victims to fake websites designed to capture personal information, including bank login credentials and one-time passwords (OTPs), officials added.
The alert comes amid a rise in phishing scams targeting utility service users. Fraudsters are exploiting common services like LPG connections to build trust and gain access to financial data.
Users have been advised not to click on suspicious links or share personal or financial information in response to unsolicited messages. Any such communication should be verified only through official websites or authorised customer care channels.
