Avalanche hits Siachen base camp in Ladakh, 3 soldiers killed

LADAKH, SEPTEMBER 09 (STC): An avalanche hit military base camp at the Siachen glacier in Ladakh today, leaving three soldiers of the Mahar Regiment dead, officials said.
According to official reports, the soldiers were trapped under snow for nearly 5 hours before rescue teams reached the spot.
An Army captain, who was also caught in the avalanche, was rescued, the reports added.
