Bangladesh goes to polls today

DHAKA, FEBRUARY 12 (STC): Voting began today in Bangladesh’s crucial general election. It is the first election after the ouster of prime minister Sheikh Hasina in in August 2024 amid massive nationwide protests against her rule.
According to various news agencies covering the elections, the voting started in 299 out of 300 parliamentary constituencies across the country from 7:30 am (local time) and will continue until 4:30 pm. The counting of votes is expected to begin shortly after the voting concludes.
Notably, owing to the death of a candidate in one constituency, the voting has been cancelled, reports said.
