SRINAGAR, MARCH 15 (STC): A Kashmiri Pandit organization,
Jammu and Kashmir Peace Forum, has strongly condemned the Government of India’s decision to ban the Awami Action Committee (AAC) led by Dr. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The forum termed the move as unjust and harmful to the peace, harmony, and development of Jammu and Kashmir. It has urged the government to reconsider the decision.
“Dr. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, a prominent religious and political leader, has played a crucial role in fostering reconciliation, modernizing religious education, and advocating for underprivileged communities. He has also worked towards the empowerment of women, the promotion of Kashmiri culture, and the integration of displaced families,” reads the statement of the Forum.
The organization highlighted Dr. Mirwaiz’s efforts in promoting interfaith dialogue and religious tolerance, emphasizing his contributions to peace and social welfare. It called on the government to support leaders who advocate for human rights, education, and stability in the region.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve leadership that fosters unity and progress. Banning the AAC is a step backward for peace and stability,” the forum stated.(STC)
