BUDGET SPEECH: President Murmu highlights transformative changes in J&K after abrogation of Article 370

NEW DELHI, JANUARY 31 (STC): President Droupadi Murmu in her address to the joint session of Parliament on the occasion of commencement of the Budget Session today brought Jammu and Kashmir into focus by listing the major transformative changes in the region after the revocation of Article 370. She called the completion of the railway link to Kashmir a landmark achievement for the country.
Besides, in the context of national security, the President said the government is committed to safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring internal stability. “Historic steps have been taken to fortify the country’s security and protect its borders, she stated.
Pointing out the transformative changes in Jammu and Kashmir, the President said, “J&K has witnessed significant developments after the abrogation of Article 370. Over the past six months, the government has achieved record-breaking investments in future infrastructure.”
Expressing her satisfaction over the completion of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla railway link, now seamlessly connects Kashmir with Kanyakumari. she said, “I am pleased to share that the railway network has now linked Kashmir with the rest of the country. This project includes the construction of the world’s highest rail bridge over the Chenab River.”
Meanwhile, President Murmu highlighted India’s growing strength in defense manufacturing and stated that the nation has advanced from ‘Make in India’ to ‘Make for the World’ in the defense sector.(STC)
