CAG audit raises recruitment concerns in Jammu university, 113 teachers found unqualified

JAMMU, APRIL 05 (STC): Teachers, 113 in number, appointed in colleges affiliated with Jammu University did not possess the prescribed qualifications, raising concerns over recruitment practices and academic standards, reports the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) in its report.
According to the information available, the finding forms part of the latest CAG reports tabled in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly and highlights gaps in regulatory oversight within the higher education system.
According to the audit, out of 331 teachers examined across 24 non-government colleges, a significant number lacked the required eligibility, indicating non-compliance with established recruitment norms.
The report also flagged broader administrative lapses, including absence of recruitment rules in several non-teaching categories and irregular staffing practices.
The findings point to deficiencies in monitoring mechanisms and are expected to draw attention to accountability and quality standards in affiliated institutions.
