FIR Registered on Court Directions Over Alleged Misappropriation of Rs 97 Lakh

An FIR has been lodged by police in Jammu against former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and senior BJP leader Chander Mohan Gupta in connection with the alleged theft of 37 bovines and misappropriation of nearly Rs 97 lakh from a charitable Gaushala in the city. Besides, nine others have been named in the FIR.
According to official reports, the case was registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar under FIR No. 125/2025 following the directions of the Judicial Magistrate 1st Class (Munsiff) Jammu, Rekha Sharma. The complaint was filed by Rohit Bali, who serves as the General Secretary of the Hare Krishna Gaushala Charitable Trust located at Shakti Nagar.
The FIR has been registered under Sections 316, 318(3) and 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Police said that investigations into the allegations have begun and necessary legal procedures will follow.

The case has triggered political ripples in Jammu, given the involvement of a prominent BJP leader and ex-Mayor of JMC. Locals associated with the Gaushala expressed shock over the developments, saying that charitable institutions must be safeguarded from such alleged financial and livestock irregularities.
According to the complaint, 13 cows and 24 calves were allegedly stolen from the Hare Krishna Gaushala near Eden Garden, Top Sherkhania, while funds to the tune of Rs 97 lakh belonging to the trust were misappropriated. The accused named in the FIR include Narender Verma alias Nitai Dass, his wife Manju Verma, along with Vijay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Deepak Singh Rana, Varinder Dogra, Deepak Singla, Rajeev Sambyal and Rajinder Abrol.
