CM Omar Abdullah links concession of 200 free power units to smart meters

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 08 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has linked availing of the facility of 200 free power units to smart meters. Those desirous of availing the benefit have to get smart meters installed. Otherwise, the consumers won’t be eligible for the concession.
“The consumers must install smart electricity meters to benefit from the government’s 200-unit concession, warning that those who refuse will have to pay full market rates for power,” said CM Omar Abdullah while speaking to the media“It’s my duty to convey certain things to the people of Budgam.
The Chief Minister was in Budgam campaigning for the National Conference candidate in by-elections. “If you want the 200-unit electricity benefit, you should install meters. If you don’t, your bill will rise, and there will be no concession,” he said.
He clarified that there were no special conditions or hidden rules for the benefit. “If you want a concession, install meters. If you are ready to pay full rates, then don’t install them. It’s your choice,” he said.
