CM Omar Abdullah visits flood-affected areas in Jammu, assures safety measures

JAMMU, AUGUST 26 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited several flood-affected areas of Jammu to take stock of the situation on the ground following incessant rains and rising water levels in rivers.
The Chief Minister interacted with locals, assessed the extent of damage, and reviewed the preparedness of the administration in tackling the crisis. He assured people that all necessary measures will be taken to safeguard lives and property, particularly in vulnerable areas along riverbanks and low-lying zones.
“The government stands with the people in this difficult time. Adequate steps are being taken to ensure safety and provide relief wherever needed,” the Chief Minister said.
Officials accompanying him briefed about rescue operations, evacuation efforts, and arrangements being made for residents living in high-risk areas. The administration has also been directed to remain on high alert and ensure quick response in case of further rise in water levels.
