SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 22 (STC)
: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has rejected the invitation of National Conference (NC) for a joint session to deliberate upon the strategy for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections and the forthcoming session of the state legislature.
Reportedly, JKPCC president Tariq Hamid Karra held an emergency meeting with party legislators earlier in the day to deliberate on NC’s invitation.
However, it was decided that the Congress would stay away from the meeting for now.
“The party leadership has chosen to withhold participation until further consultations with the high command are completed,” sources said.
Notably, the NC meeting was scheduled to be held at Hotel Radisson in Rajbagh, Srinagar, where NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah had already arrived to chair the discussions with alliance legislators.
Confirming the development, JKPCC chief Tariq Hamid Karra told media outlets that the Congress would not participate in the meeting called by the National Conference.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Farooq Abdullah had invited alliance legislators to chalk out a joint strategy for the Rajya Sabha polls and the upcoming legislative session.
