NEW DELHI, JULY 21 (STC)
: Congress has demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi be present when the contentious issue of “Pahalgam-Operation Sindoor-President Trump” is discussed in the parliament.
As the Monsoon session of Parliament began today, the Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh accused the Prime Minister of skipping parliamentary debates, saying, “He speaks only once a year on the President’s Address, but this time, he owes it to the country to be present.”
Ramesh also mocked Modi’s upcoming foreign tour to the United Kingdom and Maldives, calling him a “Super Premium Frequent Flyer”. “In 48 hours, he will embark on another foreign trip, while the people of Manipur will be left even more disappointed,” he said.
Modi is set to visit the two nations for four days starting Wednesday to boost bilateral ties and formalise the India-UK free trade deal.
The government has signaled readiness to discuss Operation Sindoor during the session, a key demand of the opposition. The INDIA bloc, however, insists that Modi personally respond to questions not only on the Pahalgam attack but also on US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire claims and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
