CUK to host All India Inter-University Winter Sports event in Gulmarg

27 Universities, 169 athletes to participate, says VC

Srinagar, January 28 (STC): The Central University of Kashmir (CUK) will host All India Inter-University Winter Sports event in Gulmarg on January 30-31.
This was announced by Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kashmir, in a press conference held at the DIPR Complex, Poloview Srinagar. He said that the All India Inter-University Winter Sports event will be organised in Gulmarg from January 30 to 31. The event is sponsored by the Association of Indian Universities, and will feature 27 universities, with 169 athletes, coaches, and managers.
The VC emphasized the importance of this event in putting Kashmir further on the map as a winter sports destination, enhancing both the university’s national identity and the region’s winter tourism potential.
The VC Prof. Nath also talked about introduction of the Common University Entrance Test for postgraduate programs, with the application deadline fast approaching on February 1.
He urged Jammu and Kashmir students to take part in this national-level exam, which offers access to 48 central universities across the country.
Reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on creating a learner-centric education system, were also highlighted in the press conference.
The university’s focus on preparing students for higher education, employment, and entrepreneurship, with the new motto “Educate, Enrich, Empower” was also explained.
Prof. Nath mentioned ongoing infrastructure developments at the university, including new hostels and academic buildings, which are expected to be completed within 24-36 months.
The university is also introducing nine new academic best practices, which will be shared with faculty and stakeholders shortly, he said.
