JAMMU, JULY 15 (STC): Five persons were killed and 17 others injured when a passenger vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.
The Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has condoled the loss of lives in the tragic road accident.
In a condolence message, the Lieutenant Governor has said: “Pained by the loss of lives due to the tragic road accident in Doda. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief. Praying for a speedy recovery of the injured.”
According to the reports, the accident took place on Doda-Bharth road near Ponda when the driver of a tempo traveller lost control while negotiating a blind curve, the police official said.
Five persons were found dead and 17 others taken to a hospital. 14 injured have been taken to GMC Doda while three injured have been referred to GMC Jammu. The rescue operation is was underway, the official added. (STC)
