SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 21 (STC)
: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has clarified that his recent remarks were misinterpreted and not directed at Srinagar Member of Parliament and National Conference leader Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi.
Choudhary said his comments, made during a public event a day earlier where he was quoted as saying he did not know Ruhullah, were actually aimed at a BJP candidate and not the National Conference MP. “There was rush and noise at the gathering which led to confusion about whom I was referring to,” he explained.
He emphasised that he holds Aga Ruhullah in the highest regard. “Aga Ruhullah Mehdi is an honourable leader and an elected representative of the people of Srinagar. I have great respect for him and there was no intention to make any personal or political remark against him,” Choudhary said.
