Dr. Farooq chairs JKNC’s customary Legislature Party meeting ahead of Assembly Session

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 22 (STC): Emphasising the importance of unity and discipline within the party, National Conference President, Dr. Farooq Abdullah has said that the Assembly is the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Every member carries the responsibility of articulating the pain, aspirations, and needs of the people with dignity and courage.
Dr Farooq was addressing the the customary Legislature Party meeting of the National Conference ahead of the Assembly session here today.
Notably, a day ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly session, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) convened a crucial Legislature Party meeting to discuss the upcoming session’s agenda, key legislative issues, and the party’s strategy inside the House.
The meeting was chaired by party president Dr Farooq Abdullah and attended by vice-president CM Omar Abdullah, along with senior party legislators and other functionaries.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said, “This is the customary Legislature Party meeting of the National Conference ahead of the Assembly session. We met today along with MY Tarigami and the independent members to chalk out our strategy for the session.”
He added, “This session is different because, after 10 years, the Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled the day after tomorrow. The strategy discussed today is aimed at ensuring the success of our four candidates. I thank all the members for attending the meeting.”
When asked about the absence of Congress representatives despite invitations, Omar Abdullah said, “Congress is a separate party and has its own strategy and system.”
Regarding reports that the PDP has agreed to support NC candidates, he remarked, “Our candidate, Shami Oberoi, has met Mehbooba Mufti and requested support for the NC candidates. Our president has also spoken to her, and she has consented to discuss it with her party leaders.”
CM Omar Abdullah also called for a focused and issue-based approach during the Assembly proceedings.
