Encounter between terrorists and security forces breaks out in Surankote village

Top Army officer reviews the situation.

POONCH, APRIL 15 (STC)
: A gunfight between terrorists and security forces in Lasana village of Surankote in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night broke out after a joint team of police and Army launched a cordon-and-search operation following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. One solider got injured in the firefight, official reports said.
“Contact was established with terrorists during a joint operation with Police at Lasana, Surankote last night. Additional troops have been inducted, and search operations are ongoing to prevent the terrorists from escaping,” mentions Army’s White Knight Corps posted on X.
Reportedly, the injured soldier has been shifted to a hospital for treatment. Security has been tightened in the area and search operations are
underway till filing of this report.
Meanwhile, reports said that Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) teams rushed to the encounter site where the teams are examining the bullets and other material recovered from the operation site to aid the investigation and reconstruction of the sequence of events.
Reports also reveal that a top Army officer also visited the area to take stock of the situation and review the ongoing security measures in the region.
