Fight against terrorism, drug menace to continue: DIG North Kashmir

SRINAGAR, MARCH 04 (STC): DIG North Kashmir Maqsood ul Zaman on Tuesday said that fight against terrorism and drug menace will continue. He said new criminal laws replace colonial-era statutes, aiming to strengthen the legal framework, enhance accountability, and ensure justice is delivered timely and effectively.
Talking to reporters, DIG Zaman said, “New criminal laws are victim centric and people need to be informed about the same. These new laws bring several improvements, such as: Zero FIR: Allows FIRs to be filed at any police station, irrespective of jurisdiction. e-FIR: FIRs can be registered electronically.”
Speaking on fight against terrorism and drugs, he stated that police is simultaneously engaged in fighting this menace and action is being taken against the kingpins.
“Even the properties of drug peddlers are being seized which they have managed to make through unfair means,” he said.
He sought support of people for the eradication of this menace. (STC)
