Final call on Waqf (Amendment) Bill lies with Parliament, says JK CM Omar Abdullah

In the on- going debate on Waqf (Amendment) Bill, the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has clarified that no new legislation has been enacted yet. While talking to reporters he said that the bill is currently under review by a parliamentary committee, with discussions underway.
Abdullah also highlighted that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led delegation has shared their views with the committee. “Let the committee do its work, and after that, there will be a debate in Parliament,” he stated.
In his remark on Uttarakhand’s move toward implementing the UCC, the chief minister said, “Let them do it. They may do what they want. The final decision will be made in Parliament.
