Former MLA Gurez Faqeer Khan allegedy shoots himself dead in Srinagar, CM expresses grief

SRINAGAR, MARCH 20 (STC): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Faqeer Mohammad Khan, allegedly committed suicide today at his Tulsi Bagh residence in Srinagar, an official report said.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over his demise. The House observed a two-minute silence in Khan’s honor.
According to the reports, Khan shot himself at his residence in Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar. The reason behind the tragic incident remains unknown, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances.
Khan, who was also former MLA from Gurez. He had contested the 2024 Assembly elections from the Gurez constituency but was unsuccessful. He had lost to National Conference leader and former minister Nazir Ahmad Khan.
Meanwhile, in a post on X, Office of CM Omar Abdullah wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of former legislator Faqeer Mohd Khan. He was a true grassroots leader. My heartfelt condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace.”
A probe has been launched to determine the factors leading to the incident. (STC)
