Srinagar, January 18 (STC):
Making meters mandatory for all auto-rickshaws, the Jammu and Kashmir Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan announced fare for electric rickshaws at 10 per kilometer per passenger, up to a maximum distance of 6 kilometers.
While talking to media here in Srinagar he warned of strict action against drivers overcharging passengers or operating without proper permits.
Highlighting the importance of road safety, he said, “Road safety is the primary responsibility of the driver. They have to avoid violations like speeding and not wearing helmets.”
Meanwhile, he acknowledged delays in issuance but assured that a new tender for license printing is nearly complete, and licenses will soon be delivered by post.
Notably, drivers were encouraged to use the Digilocker app for digital access to their licenses, he said. (STC)
