: To observe strict compliance with directives from the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir, immediate eviction and takeover of the iconic Hotel Nedou’s in Gulmarg has been ordered by the government. The occupation of the property has been declared unauthorised.
Reportedly, the District Magistrate Baramulla has been requested to depute an Executive Magistrate and adequate police personnel to ensure smooth execution of the eviction.
The hotel is to be physically handed over to the Gulmarg Development Authority.
According to the reports, the Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Tariq Hussain (JKAS), in an official communication to the Assistant Director Tourism, Gulmarg, has directed that the physical possession of Hotel Nedou’s be taken over and handed to GDA within 24 hours.
Notably, the directive is backed by the dismissal of Special Leave Petition (SLP) No. 28599/2018 by the Supreme Court on 16 November 2018 and the High Court judgment dated 6 September 2018 in OWP No. 847/2015, both of which upheld the government’s claim over the land and the property.
