HM Amit Shah calls for enhanced vigilance, stronger coordination for a ‘terror-free J&K’

NEW DELHI, OCTOBER 09 (STC): Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed security agencies to further enhance alertness and coordination, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
He was chairing a high-level meeting here to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He has reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and instructed agencies to act in close coordination to eliminate residual terror networks and prevent infiltration attempts.
While taking a comprehensive review of the overall security situation in J&K, the Home Minister said, “We are committed to crippling the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. Our security forces will continue to have full freedom to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region.”
Official reports said the Home Minister expressed satisfaction over the progress made in anti-terror operations since the Pahalgam terror attack in April, noting that the security forces have continued operations to dismantle sleeper cells and terror modules while maintaining a normal tourism flow in the Valley.
The meeting also discussed border security, law and order management, and the implementation of Central development projects.
Reports said, Shah sought detailed briefings on various issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.
“Development and security must move together,” a senior official quoted the Home Minister as saying. “The Centre’s priority is to ensure that every citizen in Jammu and Kashmir benefits from peace, progress, and prosperity.”
According to sources, Shah also reviewed the pace of Central projects while emphasizing the importance of quick inter-departmental coordination to avoid delays in project execution.
The meeting, held at New Delhi, was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat, CRPF DG G.P. Singh, and BSF DG Daljit Singh Chawdhary, along with senior officials from both the Centre and the Union Territory administration.
The senior officials, Chief Secretary and Director General of Police gave Amit Shah detailed presentations on the security scenario, counter-terror operations, and developmental progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
