HM Amit Shah lands in Srinagar to chair series of high-level meetings

SRINAGAR, APRIL 07 (STC): Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar on Monday evening. He was received at the airport by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani.
Soon after landing at Srinagar airport, the Home Minister proceeded directly to the Humhama residence of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Humayun Muzammil Bhat, who was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for his bravery during an anti-terror operation in Anantnag in 2023. He spent around 20 minutes with the bereaved family. He was accompanied by senior officials. The Union minister met the late officer’s father, retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Hassan Bhat, and offered condolences.
Security has been tightened across the Kashmir Valley in view of Shah’s visit. Additional deployments of armed personnel have been made to ensure safety and order. On Tuesday, Shah will chair a high-level security review meeting with top officials from various forces. He is also scheduled to assess the progress of ongoing developmental projects in a separate session.
Before arriving in Srinagar, Shah was in Jammu on Sunday, where he held crucial meetings on security and development.
