:
India could have played a role similar to Pakistan’s in the West Asia conflict, had New Delhi not maintained such close diplomatic ties with Israel, opined Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event at SKICC here, the Chief Mnister said the ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region depend largely on the United States reining in Israel.
“The conflict was not started by Iran but was imposed on it. If the ceasefire fails, it will not be Iran’s fault. The responsibility will be only Israel’s. The US will have to rein in Israel,” he said.
Commenting on the statements of US President Donald Trump CM Omar said, “He says one thing in the morning, another in the afternoon and something else in the evening. The kind of language he uses does not suit anyone, let alone a president.”
On India’s diplomatic stance, CM Omar said, “Only Israel needed this war. Perhaps India could have played a role like Pakistan if our relations with Israel were not so close.”
