IUST Ranked Among India’s Leading Universities in Prestigious Global Rankings

Awantipora, May 22, (STC): The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, has earned a spot among India’s top 200 universities in the 2024 edition of global university rankings by Research.com, a globally respected academic ranking platform.
IUST achieved the 195th position nationally among over 1,100 universities and an impressive 2,882nd rank globally out of more than 30,000 institutions. This milestone reflects the university’s growing prominence in research, innovation, and academic excellence.
Research.com employs a rigorous evaluation process that assesses institutions based on key metrics such as publication data, citation impact, and research performance. IUST’s recognition is further strengthened by the inclusion of two of its faculty members in the Top Earth Science Scientists in India list.
Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, is ranked 32nd nationally and Prof. Shakeel Ahmed, affiliated with the Disaster Risk Reduction Centre, is ranked 34th nationally.
In a statement issued by Public Relations and Media Centre (PR&MC) Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) said, “Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Romshoo, IUST has evolved into a research-intensive institution, placing a strong emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The university has significantly increased its extramural research funding and has established dedicated interdisciplinary research groups.”
IUST’s initiatives to create an entrepreneurial culture, skill development, and early student engagement in innovation have contributed to its rising stature. The university also provides extensive support in terms of seed grants and commercialization of research outputs.
