JAMMU, NOVEMBER 04 (STC)
: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has clarified his government’s stance on the reservation issue, reaffirming that his government will strictly adhere to the Supreme Court’s 50% reservation cap. He emphasised transparency and commitment to constitutional norms.
“What’s there to hide? If we had wanted to conceal it, we wouldn’t have mentioned it in our manifesto. The entire discussion on this issue began only after the National Conference included it in the manifesto. Those who are now projecting themselves as champions of open merit — where were they before that?” CM Omar told reporters.
He further said that the cabinet subcommittee has already submitted its report. “It is our full intention to comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling that reservations should not exceed 50%,” the CM said.
