J&K Police in Srinagar issues advisory to media, social media users and general public

SRINAGAR, MARCH 06 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Police in Srinagar has advised all media organizations, social media users, and members of the general public to exercise utmost responsibility while reporting, publishing, or sharing any information on electronic or social media platforms.
In its advisory, the police has urged press personnel, social media professionals and general public to refrain from publishing unverified information, speculation, or rumors and ensure that all reports are confirmed through credible and authoritative sources before dissemination.
The circulation of rumours, misinformation, or unverified content may cause unnecessary panic, disturb public order, and adversely affect communal harmony.
“It is reiterated that strict legal action shall be initiated against any individual or entity found indulging in the spread of misinformation or rumours under the relevant provisions of law,” reads the advisory.
All citizens have been urged to cooperate with the authorities and contribute towards maintaining peace, order, and harmony in the Srinagar district.
