J&K Police solves blind murder case within 24 hrs, nabs two accused

JAMMU, MARCH 19 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Police while successfully solving a blind murder case reported on March 16, 2026 near SKUAST-Jammu, has arrested two accused within 24 hours.
According to the reports, on March 16, at around 9:30 PM, Police Station Satwari received information about a male dead body lying on a bridge along the road from Chatha to Miran Sahib. The deceased, a Sikh male aged around 46–47 years, had suffered a fatal neck injury inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon. Initial investigation indicated a deliberate attack leading to excessive blood loss and death.
In this regard, FIR No. 66/2026 was registered under Section 103 of the BNS Code along with Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act at PS Satwari.
A special team led by SDPO City South, SHO PS Satwari, IC PP Chatha, IC PP Gadigarh, and PSI Wasim Bhatti, under the supervision of SP City South and overall guidance of SSP Jammu, immediately launched an investigation. The team examined the crime scene and collected vital evidence.
During the probe, CCTV footage from the area up to Miran Sahib Market was thoroughly analyzed. The footage revealed that a scooty carrying two persons had been following the deceased prior to the incident.
Acting on technical and human intelligence, police identified and apprehended the suspects. The accused have been identified as Davinder Singh, son of Nain Singh, resident of Bhour Camp Ward No. 1, and Ravinder Singh alias Fathey, son of Amrik Singh, resident of Govindpura Chatha.
During sustained interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the crime. Further investigation in the case is underway.
