J&K police suspends two Special Branch cops over youth’s killing in Jammu

JAMMU, JULY 25 (STC)
: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has today suspended two police personnel of the District Special Branch in connection with the killing of a youth in the Sure Chak area of Jammu, states a report.
The suspended officials include Head Constable Baljinder Singh and Sgct. Pawan Singh . According to a suspension order, the action has been taken pending investigation of FIR No. 153/2025, registered at Police Station Satwari under sections 109(1), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3/27 of the Arms Act.
Both officials have been placed under suspension with immediate effect and directed to report to District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu, where they are required to deposit their uniform articles.
The order further states that they will be entitled to draw subsistence allowance as per the rules during the suspension period.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a DySP-ranked officer has been constituted to probe the incident. The formation of the SIT follows serious allegations made by the family members of the deceased youth, who have called for a transparent and time-bound investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
