J&K Waqf chairperson Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi inaugurates Panj Peer Mosque in Rajouri

RAJOURI, MARCH 05 (STC):
Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, during her two-day tour inaugurated the newly constructed Panj Peer Mosque in Rajouri and later laid the foundation for the Mimber construction at Eidgah in Kotranka in Budhal, today.
The new mosque will provide improved space and facilities for local worshippers.
She addressed a public rally at Rajouri where she spoke on the agenda of Viksit Bharat of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The events were attended by local residents, religious scholars, community leaders and the Board officials.
Her visit is being seen as part of a broader initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board to strengthen religious institutions and expand public facilities linked to Waqf properties across Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said the two-day tour of Rajouri includes the foundation laying of several new development projects while a number of completed works will also be formally dedicated to the public.
These initiatives are part of the Waqf Board’s ongoing efforts to create modern infrastructure and upgrade facilities while ensuring that Waqf properties contribute to the welfare of the community.
Speaking to media persons on the occasion, Dr Andrabi said the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has created history through its efforts in recent years to restore and develop mosques, shrines and other religious properties across different districts of the Union Territory.
She said that strengthening religious institutions remains an important priority, adding that the Board is committed to ensuring that places of worship are properly maintained and equipped with better facilities for the public.
“Our aim is to ensure that the shrines, mosques and Eidgahs across Jammu and Kashmir are developed and maintained so that the community benefits from improved infrastructural facilities,” she said.
Dr Andrabi further stated that several new projects are in the pipeline and will soon be launched in remote as well as urban areas. She emphasized that the development of Waqf properties should not only preserve religious heritage but also support community welfare and social harmony.
Local residents welcomed the initiatives and expressed hope that such projects would further strengthen religious life and community cohesion in the Pir Panjal region.
Eminent representatives Ramesh Chander, Dil Mir, Jagat Ram, Azhar Mehmood, Samreen Khan, Manzoor Naik, Tarun Vasson, Captain Nazim Din, Shikha Bali and others also participated in the events.
Notably, former Minister Chowdhry Zulfikar Ali, BJP District President Dev Raj Sharma and Executive Officer Abdul Qayoom Mir accompanied the Waqf Chairperson.
