JAMMU, FEBRUARY 14 (STC): Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) has been revolutionizing the farming sector in Jammu and Kashmir through modern techniques and organic practices. It deserves appreciation for such efforts.
Waqf Chairperson Dr Darakshan Andrabi stated this on Saturday during her visit to the exhibition for farmers organised by the SKUAST.
Talking to reporters, Dr Andrabi said, “Since the time the Vice Chancellor has taken these initiatives, the agriculture, farming and the farmers here, you can see how they are benefiting from it.”
She interacted with farmers and scientists and emphasized the shift towards pesticide-free cultivation.
“All the stalls that I have seen here, the farmers are happy… The real purpose of the Agricultural University is being fulfilled. Our scientists and students are taking new initiatives without pesticides,” she said.
Waqf Chairperson remarked that the organization of such exhibitions for farmers was reminiscent of agricultural fairs held in countries like England, where farmers are educated on advanced methodologies.
“In this season, for the farmers, doing this kind of show today… I think when you go to England, London, or to foreign countries, this kind of exhibition is organized for the farmers and they are taught this kind of farming,” Dr Andrabi said.
She congratulated the Vice Chancellor and his team, for their efforts in transforming the farming sector.
