SRINAGAR, APRIL 04 (STC):
Even as Peoples Conference (PC) chairman Sajad Lone has announced his unconditional support for any legislation in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly pertaining to Waqf matters, he, at the same time, launched a sharp attack on the National Conference (NC), questioning their performance in Parliament.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Lone stated, “We will support unconditionally any bill brought in the J and K assembly pertaining to Waqf. If NC has any such intentions, we will support it.”
However, he criticised the party’s parliamentary conduct. “BUT can they answer one simple question? Why on earth was their delivery in Parliament so lacklustre and so apologetically servile?” he asked.
Lone emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir, as the only Muslim-majority region in India, required stronger representation in national forums. “The parliamentarians from J and K should have roared like a lion, not meowed like a cat,” he asserted, indicating his dissatisfaction with the NC’s approach in defending the region’s interests in Parliament.(STC)
