JKSA urges EAM’s intervention for repatriation of Kashmiri youth’s mortal remains from Saudi Arabia

: The Jammu & Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has urged External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar to facilitate the urgent repatriation of the mortal remains of a Kashmiri youth who passed away in Saudi Arabia.
The deceased, identified as Bilal Manzoor Ganie, son of Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, was a resident of Chountiwari, Sogam in Lolab, north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, JKSA said.
According to the Association, Bilal had been working as a nursing assistant at Aaba International Hospital in Saudi Arabia for the past one and a half years. On April 4, 2026, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and was declared brought dead at the same hospital.
Speaking to news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami expressed profound grief over the untimely demise, stating that the incident has sent shockwaves across Lolab and adjoining areas. The youth was regarded as a dedicated and compassionate individual, and his passing has devastated the family and community, he added.
Khuehami said the Association has formally taken up the matter with the External Affairs Minister, seeking directions to the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia and local authorities for expeditious repatriation of the mortal remains.
The bereaved family wishes to perform the last rites as per their cultural and religious traditions, he said, adding that the Association is ready to extend full cooperation to ensure no procedural delays occur.
Appealing on humanitarian grounds, Khuehami urged the Minister for immediate intervention so that the family can see their loved one for the last time and perform the final rites with dignity.
The Association expressed hope for a prompt response from the Ministry of External Affairs and appreciated its continued efforts in assisting Indian citizens abroad during distressing situations.
