Journalism department, IUST, organises seminar on ‘Industry Collaboration for Comprehensive Media Education’

SRINAGAR, MAY 19 (STC): The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (DJMC), Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), today organised a departmental-level seminar on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Senior Assistant Professor, DJMC, Dr. Monisa Qadiri, who served as the resource-person for the seminar, deliberated on the topic, ‘Industry Collaboration for Comprehensive Media Education.’
Dr. Qadiri discussed industry collaboration under NEP for strengthening the academia industry interface, diversifying apprenticeships, providing better hands-on experience to students, industry experts mentorship, and offering specially-designed certificate programmes to the industry persons.
She also noted the significance of designing future driven courses that cater to industry needs in the consultation framework for better employability and entrepreneurial avenues. Various suggestions related to bridging this gap were noted during the session.
The seminar was attended by faculty members, research scholars and students of DJMC. The seminar ended with a discussion among faculty members on industry collaborations.
