SRINAGAR, JUNE 12 (STC):
Kargil and Kashmir are united by shared history, business, and cultural ties, said Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam, on Thursday. He made these remarks during the launch of a familiarization (FAM) tour to Kargil by TASC.
He appreciated TASC’s efforts in promoting pilgrimage, leisure, and adventure tourism, adding that the fam tour to Kargil would help restore confidence and open new opportunities in the region.
The Advisor said, “Reviving Kargil and Gurez tourism is key to reviving Kashmir tourism — we are different in geography, but united in heart, history, and hospitality.”
Kargil was once a preferred destination for foreign travellers due to its adventure tourism potential and numerous peaks above 5,000 meters, he added.
Meanwhile, the Advisor disclosed that they have requested the Lieutenant Governor to reopen popular and safe tourist destinations such as the Tulip Garden, Badamwari, Beda Valley, Dodhpathri, and Gurez. “Keeping these locations closed not only disappoints visiting tourists but also hampers the growth of the local tourism sector,” he said.
