Kashmir Music Club Chairman alleges mismanagement at J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages

: The Kashmir Music Club Srinagar, in a statement has expressed deep concern over the continued posting of officers with little or no understanding of art and culture at the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.
The Club’s chairman, Waheed Jeelani, top grade vocalist, composer and art promoter, Chairman, said, “This approach is an outright insult to the artists of Jammu and Kashmir and a serious threat to the region’s cultural heritage. The Academy is already suffering due to poor leadership and lack of cultural sensitivity. Adding more such officers only worsens the situation.”
He further stated that ulture cannot be administered by ignorance. It requires knowledge, sensitivity and respect for tradition.
He has demanded an immediate reshuffle and complete overhaul of the Academy. “Failure to act will lead to irreversible damage to this prestigious institution and to the artistic legacy of Jammu and Kashmir,” Jeelani said.
