JAMMU, APRIL 04 (STC): Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), a representative organisation of Kashmiri Pandits, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the historic passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in both Houses of Parliament. At the same, the organisation has urged the central government to table Kashmiri Pandit Genocide and Rehabilitation Bill in Parliament
The president of the KPC, Kundan Kashmiri, in a communication addressed to the PM Modi has stated, “This courageous and much-needed reform is a shining testimony to your unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and national justice. This Bill corrects long-standing legal distortions, curbs illegal encroachments, and brings long-overdue protection to countless citizens whose rights were being trampled under arbitrary Waqf declarations. It reinforces the belief that your government stands tall in the face of appeasement, and instead prioritizes the rule of law, equality before law, and protection of every Indian citizen irrespective of community.”
The organisation has also , placed on record their appreciation for Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, whose clarity and resolve played a vital role in bringing this landmark reform to light.
The KPC has urged the PM ‘to walk the same bold path in delivering long-awaited justice to another suffering, yet patriotic, segment of Indian society: the displaced and victimized Kashmiri Pandits, who have remained in forced exile for over 35 years.’
“We request, with utmost urgency and seriousness, the immediate tabling and passage of the Kashmiri Pandit Genocide and Rehabilitation Bill in Parliament,” reads the letter addressed to the PM Modi and further demands to protect and revive the abandoned temples, shrines, cremation grounds, and cultural heritage.
“Sir, we also demand that the Shrines and Temples Protection Bill for Jammu and Kashmir be urgently passed in the J&K Legislative Assembly, under direct central influence if necessary. Thousands of sacred Hindu temples in the Valley are being vandalized, encroached upon, or left to decay this is not only a spiritual but also a civilizational injustice,” says the KPC. (STC)
