LG Sinha empowers SHOs, SDPOs, DySPs (Hqs) to enforce Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 05 (STC): Aimed at curbing human trafficking and sexual exploitation in the Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has empowered all Station House Officers (SHOs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs) (Headquarters) as Special Police Officers within their respective jurisdictions to enforce the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.
In this regard a notification issued by the J&K Home Department states that the appointments have been made under sub-section (1) of Section 13 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, superseding all previous notifications on the matter.
“All SHOs of J&K Police, not below the rank of Inspector, along with SDPOs and DySPs (Headquarters), will act as Special Police Officers in their respective areas to implement the provisions of the Act,” reads the notification. (STC)
