: Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi, who is also Chairman Muslim Mutahida Mahaaz JK, in a statement has urged the Home Minister Amit Shah to reconsider the deportation of Pakistani nationals married to Indian citizens.
He emphasised that such actions are tearing the families apart and causing immense sufferings to children and the elderly. “Legal grounds be weighed with compassion, our laws reflect the principles of humanity and justice,” he said in his appeal to the Home Minister.
It’s worth mentioning that in Jammu and Kashmir, nearly sixty Pakistani women, married to Kashmiris here, and their children, were deported to Pakistan through the Wagah border a few days back. The families, who were residing in Srinagar, Baramulla, Kupwara, Budgam, and Shopian districts, were escorted in buses to Punjab for handover to Pakistani authorities.
Notably, many of the women had entered Kashmir under the 2010 rehabilitation policy for former terrorists. Besides, eleven Pakistani nationals who had entered India on valid visas nearly 45 years ago in Mendhar, Poonch, were also sent back.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had directed heads of the States and Union Territories to identify and remove and deport Pakistani citizens from their respective States and UTs immediately. (STC)
