SRINAGAR, JANUARY 30 (STC): Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his address Friday a congregation at Srinagar’s Jama Masjid today expressed “deep anguish” over the alleged brutal assault on two Kashmiri shawl vendors in Uttarakhand’s Vikas Nagar. He stated that it reflects a “disturbing pattern of communal profiling” against Kashmiris outside the Union Territory.
Mirwaiz specifically highlighted the incident involving 18-year-old Tabish and his brother Danish, who were reportedly attacked with iron rods, causing grave injuries to them.
“Such incidents in states like Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh increase the safety risk and anxiety for thousands of Kashmiris who travel to different parts of India during winter months to earn their livelihood,” he said.
He urged authorities to “take this matter seriously” and ensure the safety of Kashmiris outside J&K.
