Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan: SSP Srinagar launches 100-day campaign against drug menace

SRINAGAR, APRIL 13 (STC): Asserting zero-tolerance policy against drugs, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Dr. Sandeep Chakravarthy, on Monday launched a 100-day strategic action programme under the ‘Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan’. He described it as a national mission rather than a mere project.
Speaking at Amar Singh College, the SSP, said the campaign, envisioned by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, aims to dismantle the entire drug ecosystem in the valley. “J&K Police have full clarity. We have a zero-tolerance policy against drugs,” Dr. Chakravarthy said.
He said the 100-day drive is not just an awareness campaign but a strategic action plan involving both civil departments and the police. “Definitely after three months, we will show the results,” he asserted, adding that Srinagar Police have already conducted strong operations against drug peddlers and addicts.
The SSP emphasised that the fight against substance abuse is a social and community issue, not merely a government or police concern. “Parents, students, and educational institutions play a special role. We all have to fight together to win,” he said, appealing to the youth of Kashmir to join the war against drugs.
“We have only one goal — to make Srinagar a drug-free district, Jammu and Kashmir a drug-free territory, and our country a drug-free nation,” Dr. Chakravarthy said, urging citizens to share information without fear. “We will take care of the informant and won’t reveal their identity. It’s a team game.”
Regarding the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the SSP assured that peaceful and secure arrangements will be in place. “This year too, we are promising a peaceful, secure Amarnath Yatra,” he added.
