BUDGAM, OCTOBER 26 (STC): Absence of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from the upcoming Assembly elections in Budgam constituency has given rise to uncertainty among the National Conference voters as well as the workers and leaders in the district.
These apprehensions were raised by National Conference candidate for Budgam assembly by-election Aga Syed Mehmood and he termed it as the “uncertain political direction” of the party in Budgam district.
Aga Mehmood during his conversation with media persons highlighted that during the previous Assembly elections, Omar Abdullah had played a pivotal role in leading the party’s campaign and enjoyed active support from the district leadership. He said that the NC’s political strength in Budgam had long revolved around Omar’s personal engagement and visibility, which had helped the party maintain its voter base.
“In the past, Omar Abdullah’s presence in Budgam energized the party cadre and gave confidence to local supporters. His absence from the current electoral contest has created a leadership vacuum,” Aga Mehmood said, adding that the party now faces the challenge of defining a clear direction in the constituency.
He said, “The public wants to know who will represent them, who will lead from the front, and what the party’s roadmap is for addressing the district’s developmental needs.”
