SRINAGAR, MAY 23 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, has criticized those responsible for the abrogation of Article 370 and the conversion of Jammu and Kashmir into a Union Territory. “I want to ask those leaders what happened during the years you were in power? Why did you ally with those who later removed our special status?” he questioned.
The Deputy Chief Minister reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We are still fighting to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and its special status,” he said.
Referring to the recent disturbances along the borders, Dy CM Surinder Choudhary expressed grief over the losses suffered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in Kashmir Valley. “Our tourism industry suffered, hotels were empty, and transporters faced losses. This should not have happened,” he remarked.
The Deputy Chief Minister vehemently rejected the idea of war as a solution. “From 1947 to Kargil, it’s always the border people who have suffered. War benefits no one. A bullet or a drone doesn’t check if it’s Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, or Christian. It harms everyone,” he stated.
