JAMMU, MAY 12 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its first peaceful night since May 7 as no new ceasefire violations were reported across LoC. “The night remained largely peaceful in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the international border. No incident has been reported, marking the first calm night in recent days,” the Indian Army said.
DGMO meeting taking place today is important to make ceasefire permanent. According to the Defence Expert Sanjeev Srivastava, “This meeting is very important, the focus will be on the understanding reached between India and Pakistan, how to continue this and make it permanent…to ensure that Pakistan won’t violate this understanding again and won’t take any provocative steps again…let’s see what will be the outcome of the meeting.”
Meanwhile, visuals from Rajouri, Akhnoor and Jaisalmer showed that things have started returning to normal as no new ceasefire violations were reported across the LoC.
Locals from Pathankot said, ” Since this understanding has come into place, slowly, the situation is changing, markets are opening…we hope this continues like this…war is not a solution.”
It is worth mentioning that ‘Operation Sindoor’, as per the official statement, is still ongoing and that any attack by Pakistan would be met with adequate consequences. After days of attacks and retaliatory strikes, India and Pakistan had reached a mutual ceasefire that both countries had announced on May 10.
