No hike in electricity tariffs for now: Advisor to CM Nasir Aslam Wani

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 09 (STC): Jammu and Kashmir government has assured that there will be no hike in electricity tariffs for now, and notably the government has already announced amnesty for electricity consumers, offering relief to thousands of residents.
Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, stated this while lauding the efforts of the Omar Abdullah-led government. He credited it for securing substantial funds for development projects in the Jammu Kashmir.
He also reaffirmed the government’s stance on the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. stating it is not a favor but a constitutional right.
Wani said that, “We believed in promises. It’s not a concession, we were already a state. We were downgraded to a Union Territory. It’s time we are reinstated.”
He also said that the Supreme Court has scheduled to hear the matter of statehood on August 14, expressing optimism about a favorable outcome. “I believe soon we will have good news,” Wani added.
He said that we have never indulged in doublespeak.
Our main property is our statehood, and we will fight for it for as long as it takes.”
He also expressed hope that the ongoing Parliament session would bring positive developments regarding the long-pending demand for restoration of statehood.
